Assistant Director, Human Resource Management (AN-Scale KMTC 4)

About the role

Kenya Medical Training College is recruiting an Assistant Director, Human Resource Management (AN-Scale KMTC 4) in Nairobi. The post covers the full range of HR functions, including planning, training, payroll, discipline, staff welfare and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the Human Resource Plan
• Oversee the identification, design and implementation of training programmes based on identified needs
• Guide the development and updating of the human resource database
• Develop and review Human Resource instruments
• Coordinate the implementation of recommendations from internal and external audits
• Supervise the preparation of training projections and plans
• Coordinate the administration of the payroll system, including staff deductions and statutory returns
• Undertake disciplinary processes
• Organize team-building activities and coordinate staff welfare
• Develop a plan for annual performance targets for management review
• Oversee staff travel clearance and provide secretarial services to the HR Management Committee
• Update and mitigate the HR risk register and administer employee benefits and compensation

Required profile

• Cumulative service of 12 years' relevant work experience, including 3 years in the grade of Principal Human Resource Management Officer or a comparable position
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, or in Public Administration, Sociology or Business Administration plus a Higher Diploma in HRM or CHRP course, or a Master's degree in HR-related fields
• Membership of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) or a relevant professional body in good standing, and registration with IHRM
• Certificate in a leadership course of at least four weeks
• Valid practicing licence from a relevant professional body where applicable
• Demonstrated managerial, administrative and professional competence
