Associate Field Manager - Field (Fixed Term)

About the role

GiveDirectly is hiring an Associate Field Manager on a fixed-term contract to lead field operations in Kitui County, Kenya. The role covers field management, team leadership, quality control of enrollment data, and stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Execute the field work plan on a rolling basis, coordinate daily activities and plan routes around distance, terrain and seasonal access, and run weekly debriefs with field teams
• Manage the team: weekly one-on-ones and check-ins, performance reviews, mentoring, onboarding, leave management and monthly team-building exercises
• Quality management: weekly desktop checks, spot checks of enrollment, weekly shadowing of Field Officers and coaching on survey administration
• Data collection and improvement: collect at least two household surveys per week, pilot quality tools, refine targeting criteria and coordinate extra data requests
• Admin and finance: weekly stock counts, monthly enrollment flyers, protective equipment, weekly timesheets, transport reconciliations and monthly airtime allowances
• Risk management: monitor cultural, logistical and operational risks, assess staff security risks and keep the risk matrix up to date
• Stakeholder engagement with administrative leaders and community leaders, and content and impact reporting

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies or a related field
• At least 3 years of experience managing teams in the humanitarian or development sector
• Proven people management experience, especially in remote or resource-scarce settings
• Deep familiarity with Kitui County, including its local customs and terrain
• Fluency in the Kamba language is a must

Required skills

• Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools such as Excel and Google Sheets
• Experience with digital data tools, community engagement, financial reconciliation or social protection programs is an added advantage
