About the role

The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development is seeking an Assistant Director to lead its technical services. This senior position involves overseeing electronic, electrical, and other technical programmes, ensuring they meet the Institute's standards and strategic goals.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate planning and implementation of electronic, electrical and other technical programmes, including preparation of technical specifications and cost estimates.
• Provide technical evaluation and professional advice on proposed projects, equipment and systems to inform procurement, installation and investment decisions.
• Supervise acquisition, installation, commissioning and final acceptance of technical equipment and systems, ensuring compliance with approved specifications and quality standards.
• Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of technical equipment and systems to ensure reliability, safety and operational continuity.
• Manage storage, security, inventory and utilisation of technical hardware, software and related resources.
• Supervise technical staff and contractors, ensuring compliance with professional and safety standards.
• Monitor technical projects, identify risks and operational challenges, and recommend corrective and improvement measures.
• Prepare technical reports and advise management on technical requirements, emerging technologies and infrastructure needs.
• Ensure compliance with technical, safety, environmental, procurement and other statutory requirements.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the Institute’s mandate.
