Vehicle Workshop Supervisor

About the role

The Vehicle Workshop Supervisor will lead the maintenance, servicing and repair of farm machinery, tractors, excavators, backhoes, loggers, generators and motor vehicles, ensuring efficient farm operations, minimal downtime and compliance with safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Reduce breakdowns and downtime by conducting root‑cause analyses and implementing corrective actions.
• Coordinate ordering of spares and consumables with Stores, Fleet and Procurement managers to maintain optimal inventory.
• Allocate mechanics to tasks, monitor fleet utilisation, productivity and fuel consumption.
• Identify skill gaps and organise training for mechanics, drivers and operators.
• Enforce safety standards, ground unsafe equipment and authorise return to service after repairs.
• Maintain maintenance logs, service histories, vehicle records, insurance and inspection reports.
• Control usage of fuel, lubricants, crawlers and spare parts while ensuring drivers follow traffic laws and company policies.
• Schedule repairs, monitor turnaround time and conduct final inspections and road testing.

Required profile

• Diploma in Agricultural, Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
• More than 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance within a busy agricultural or commercial setting.
• Hands‑on experience with diesel engines, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Valid driving licence with at least 5 years of driving experience.

Required skills

• Mechanical and diagnostic expertise on diesel engines, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Preventive maintenance planning and execution.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
