Bank Reconciliation Accountant - FMCG

About the role

A prominent FMCG company, recruited through The Partnership Agency, is looking for a meticulous Bank Reconciliation Accountant based in Nairobi. The role manages and oversees daily and monthly bank reconciliations, supporting the finance team in keeping financial records accurate and aligned with accounting standards and internal controls.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations across multiple bank accounts, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded in the general ledger.
• Identify and investigate discrepancies, delays or errors between bank statements and company records, and coordinate with relevant teams to resolve them.
• Prepare reconciliation reports and summaries for management review and audit purposes.
• Monitor cash flow and liaise with the treasury function to ensure sufficient funds for operations.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities related to bank accounts.
• Collaborate with internal departments, banks and auditors on audit activities and compliance.
• Maintain bank documentation, including authorization matrices and bank mandates.
• Support improvements to reconciliation processes, controls and systems using SAP, QuickBooks and Excel.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years' experience in bank reconciliation, accounting or finance, preferably in FMCG, manufacturing or similar sectors; FMCG experience highly desirable.
• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Good understanding of internal controls, cash management and financial reporting standards.
• Excellent organisational, analytical and communication skills, with strong problem-solving and independent work abilities.

Required skills

• Strong experience with bank reconciliation and resolving complex issues.
• Proficiency in SAP, QuickBooks and advanced Excel.
• CPA Part 1 or Part 2 is an added advantage.
