Basin Project Coordinator for Water & Climate Resilience

About the role

The Water Sector Trust Fund (WaterFund) is seeking a highly qualified Project Basin Coordinator to lead implementation of the Ewaso‑Ng'iro Basin Water and Climate Resilience Project. Based in Nanyuki, the role involves coordinating basin‑level activities across multiple counties and ensuring alignment with donor requirements and integrated water resource management objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate stakeholder engagement and strengthen partnerships across the basin, including government agencies, county governments, WRUAs, community organisations and conservation partners.
• Promote awareness and collaboration among basin stakeholders to support integrated basin management and nature‑based climate resilience solutions.
• Provide technical guidance to implementing partners, monitor implementation progress, and ensure compliance with project approaches and donor requirements.
• Facilitate knowledge management, preparing technical and progress reports, reviewing partner submissions and advising on emerging implementation issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Studies, Social Sciences, Biosystems Engineering, Project Management or related field; Master’s degree is an advantage.
• At least ten years of relevant experience in community development, water resources management, natural resources management and climate change.
• Strong understanding of Kenya’s water, sanitation and natural resources institutional frameworks and County Government operations.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, reporting and advocacy skills, with demonstrated integrity and initiative.
