Budget Analyst – Federal Program Finance Management

About the role

The Budget Analyst provides day‑to‑day financial and administrative support for the NLI Program, ensuring accurate budget formulation, execution, and tracking across multiple funding streams.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the development, execution, and monitoring of the NLI Program budget, including appropriated, reimbursable, and multi‑year satellite mission funds.
• Conduct fiscal analysis, allocate funds, and reconcile multi‑source accounts and inter‑agency agreements.
• Prepare variance analyses, year‑end close‑outs, and regular financial reports for senior leadership.
• Represent the program in bureau‑level financial and operational working groups and coordinate with regional and cost‑center leadership.
• Guide support staff on established business processes and lead special projects that support program objectives.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship with ability to pass background investigation and E‑Verify.
• Male applicants born after 12‑31‑1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
• Willingness to participate in Direct Deposit and obtain a government credit card.
• Ability to serve a one‑year probationary period subject to performance evaluation.
