Budget Analyst (GS-11/GS-12)

About the role

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is seeking a Budget Analyst to support financial management for its regional offices. This position is available at the GS‑11 and GS‑12 levels and involves forecasting, monitoring, and reporting on program budgets, as well as providing guidance to staff on budget policies.

Key responsibilities

• Perform budget and financial management for regional offices, including forecasting, monitoring, and reporting.
• Support annual budget planning, prepare justifications, and track expenditures.
• Coordinate budget development and execution, review submissions for compliance, and assist with financial analysis.
• Conduct studies, manage data systems, and prepare financial reports to ensure accuracy and audit readiness.
• Advise staff on budget requirements, funding status, and relevant policies.
• Develop long‑range budget forecasts, evaluate cost‑effectiveness, and recommend improvements.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship with ability to pass a background investigation.
• Selective Service registration for males born after 12‑31‑1959.
• Direct Deposit participation and successful E‑Verify verification.
• Willingness to complete required training and maintain a government credit card for travel and purchases.
