Business Development Executive - Freight Forwarding

About the role

Employd Staffing Solutions Ltd, a human capital consultancy in Nairobi, is recruiting a Business Development Executive for the freight forwarding industry, based in Industrial Area, Nairobi. The role covers building and growing the freight and forwarding business in Southern Africa through sales and customer relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain ongoing relationships with new and potential customers and sales partners.
• Coordinate customer requests and promote the products and services offered.
• Work with operations, offices, partners and affiliates to grow the freight and forwarding base in Southern Africa.
• Build internal links with functional areas to improve service delivery and customer retention.
• Identify prospects, assess their needs and match them to products or alternatives.
• Lead and share sales presentations and bids, give product information and follow up on quotes to close deals.
• Administer field sales plans for a defined region, product line or market segment.
• Report on sales opportunities monthly and inform management of customer, industry and risk changes.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Marketing or a related field.
• 4-5 years of sales experience in freight forwarding, logistics or supply chain.
• Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
• Strong knowledge of air, sea and road freight, customs regulations and import/export procedures and Incoterms.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills, and strong networking ability.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as required.
