Business Development Officer

About the role

A full-time Business Development Officer position in Nairobi, Kenya, focused on growing membership and driving uptake of savings and credit products. The role works in line with the overall UWS strategy and sets targets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop growth strategies aligned with overall UWS strategy and set targets.
• Facilitate member uptake of savings and credit products through targeted mobilization strategies.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with members to drive retention and referrals.
• Conduct regular visits and keep consistent communication, especially after onboarding and after loan disbursement.
• Follow up on dormant accounts to drive reactivation.
• Recruit new members through corporate partnerships and targeted outreach through existing members.
• Handle member inquiries, complaints and feedback promptly and professionally.
• Conduct market research to identify emerging trends and member needs, and present actionable recommendations to management.
• Design member education programs with management and relevant Board committees to enhance engagement.
• Support product development by relaying member feedback and market insights.
• Perform other duties assigned from time to time.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales or a related field.
• Diploma in Sales & Marketing is an added advantage.
• Professional certification in Sales/Marketing is an added advantage.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in business development, sales or marketing, preferably in a financial institution.
