Business Development Officer – Water Treatment Chemicals

About the role

The Business Development Officer will lead the sales team for a manufacturing company that produces detergents and pool chemicals. Based in Nairobi’s Westlands district, the role focuses on expanding market share for water‑treatment chemicals and driving sustainable revenue growth.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily activities of the sales team, set targets and monitor KPIs.
• Coach and mentor sales representatives to improve productivity and conversion rates.
• Develop and execute sales strategies to meet monthly, quarterly and annual revenue goals.
• Identify new business opportunities and strengthen relationships with existing and prospective customers.
• Conduct field visits, gather market intelligence and provide competitor analysis.
• Prepare sales forecasts, activity reports and ensure timely collection of customer payments.
• Maintain accurate customer records and ensure compliance with company policies and ethical standards.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in sales or business development, preferably in chemicals or related manufacturing.
• Proven track record of leading a sales team and achieving revenue targets.
• Strong customer‑focused mindset with excellent communication skills.
