Business Development Specialist

About the role
Arnold & Porter’s Marketing Department is looking for a Business Development Specialist to support the Global Life Sciences industry group and the Life Sciences & Healthcare Regulatory practice. The role works closely with business development leaders, attorneys and marketing colleagues to raise market visibility and drive growth.
Key responsibilities
- Support execution of marketing and business development initiatives for Life Sciences and related practice groups.
- Develop knowledge of life sciences and healthcare sectors, client priorities and market dynamics.
- Assist in implementing business development plans and tracking progress against goals.
- Coordinate RFPs, pitches and proposals from planning through submission, including cross‑practice preferred provider proposals.
- Evaluate and manage conference and sponsorship opportunities, handling logistics and attorney participation.
- Organise firm‑hosted events in collaboration with the Events team.
- Utilise CRM and experience databases to identify client targets and relevant firm experience.
- Coordinate practice and industry submissions to directories such as Chambers and The Legal 500.
- Collaborate on integrated branding and profile‑raising campaigns, including digital and social media initiatives.
- Prepare and maintain marketing materials such as brochures, pitch decks, attorney biographies, experience lists and website content.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum three years of experience in marketing, business development or client relations, preferably within professional services or a law firm.
- Familiarity with the Life Sciences industry is preferred.
- Strong writing, organisational and project‑management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines under pressure.
- Detail‑oriented, proactive and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with professionals at all levels.
Required skills
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with CRM systems such as Foundation, InterAction or Intapp DealCloud.
