Business Unit Manager - Digital Payments

A leading FinTech organization delivering digital payment solutions across East Africa is hiring a Business Unit Manager through its recruiter, Stratostaff. The manager leads the strategic and commercial growth of a key business vertical, driving revenue expansion, strengthening partnerships and building high-performing teams. The role covers disciplined operations, profit and loss management and product innovation, and suits a seasoned commercial leader with a strong grasp of digital financial services.

Key responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for the business vertical's Profit and Loss, achieving or exceeding budgeted revenue, EBITDA and profit targets
• Lead the vertical operationally and financially, and prepare accurate, timely reports for senior management and the Board, including the Quarterly Business Review
• Build relationships with senior management and champion sales growth, while improving sales processes, cost control and quality control
• Manage KPIs, report daily performance and coach and develop a high-performing team
• Conduct market research, monitor industry trends and competitors, and analyse data and financial reports to inform decisions
• Represent the company at industry events and conferences

Required profile

• Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Management or a related field
• 10+ years of progressive commercial experience, including at least 5 years in senior management
• Proven experience managing a business unit with full P&L responsibility
• Practical experience in FinTech, digital banking, mobile payments or financial inclusion
• Experience in cross-border East African markets (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia preferred)
• Demonstrated success in revenue growth, business development and team building
