Cargo Officer (Supervisory) - Nairobi

About the role

Emirates is hiring a Cargo Officer in Nairobi (Westlands) to deliver a consistent, high-quality service to existing and potential customers, directly and together with GHA. The role keeps daily cargo operations efficient by guiding and directing the team and following EKSkyCargo procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organise and co-ordinate operational activities, delegate responsibilities and control subordinate staff and GHA or third-party contractors
• Monitor GHA's service against EK standards and recommend and implement process improvements
• Resolve problems such as delays, disruptions, cargo mishandling and transfer cargo
• Review and compile cargo documentation for flights in line with local regulations and company policy, and complete post-flight activities including dispatch of messages, forwarding documents and the station file
• Investigate and respond to customer queries, complaints and claims
• Maintain Cargo Systems, produce and analyse periodic reports and statistics
• Motivate, train and appraise staff, supervise operations safely and efficiently, and deputise for the Cargo Manager or act as Duty Manager

Required profile

• A-Level (or equivalent) with at least 5 years' experience in cargo operations, including 3 years as a Senior Cargo Agent and team leading; OR a degree (or equivalent) with at least 2 years' experience, including 1 year as a Senior Cargo Agent, team leading and supervisory training
• Fluency in English and the local language

Required skills

• Dangerous Goods regulations knowledge and a current or former DG certificate
• Advanced Load Control, Weight & Balance and Live Animal Regulations
• PC skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and e-mail
• Analytical and numeracy skills
