Cashier

About the role

The Cashier will support a unique U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia, handling all monetary transactions for the mess facilities. This position ensures accurate financial records, compliance with Department of Defense regulations, and provides courteous service to patrons.

Key responsibilities

• Receive cash, checks, and other payments from patrons and verify eligibility.
• Process transactions according to established meal rates and obtain required signatures on DoD Form 1544.
• Document cash collections in NAVSUP Form 470 and prepare daily deposits.
• Bag and deposit funds, complete DoD Form 1131 Cash Collection Vouchers, and transfer amounts to designated government accounts.
• Maintain accurate financial records, receipts, and reports in line with contractual requirements.
• Perform routine checks on daily transactions for accuracy and compliance.
• Provide clear, professional customer service in English, addressing inquiries and resolving concerns.
• Execute additional duties consistent with the position as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of experience in cashier, accounting, or financial services.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent English communication and customer service abilities.
• Ability to complete and maintain required training and certifications (Customer Service, CPR, First Aid) with annual recertification.
• Valid passport with at least one year of validity and ability to travel internationally.
