Coffee Liquorer (Specialty Arabica)

About the role

Soul Expression Coffee Company Limited is seeking a licensed Coffee Liquorer to join its Nairobi team on a contract basis. The role focuses on evaluating, grading, and profiling specialty Arabica coffee lots through professional cupping and sensory analysis to ensure they meet buyer specifications and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct professional coffee cupping, sensory evaluation, and quality assessment of Arabica coffee samples.
• Document fragrance, aroma, flavour, acidity, body, aftertaste, balance, sweetness, uniformity, and overall cup quality.
• Identify and record cup defects, taints, and inconsistencies.
• Evaluate green coffee for grading, physical defects, moisture content, and other quality parameters.
• Prepare accurate cupping forms, tasting notes, quality profiles, and assessment reports.
• Collaborate with farmers, cooperatives, processing stations, and internal sourcing teams on lot selection.
• Maintain sample traceability, hygiene, and laboratory standards.

Required profile

• Valid licence from Kenya's Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) Coffee Directorate to practice as a Coffee Liquorer.
• Strong practical skills in coffee cupping, sensory evaluation, and defect identification.
• Knowledge of coffee grading standards, moisture measurement, and green coffee quality control.
• Understanding of specialty coffee origins, processing methods, and Kenyan supply‑chain practices.
• Excellent record‑keeping, attention to detail, and communication skills.
• Professional proficiency in English; Kiswahili is a plus.
