Collections Officer – Loan Recovery

About the role

The Collections Officer will work closely with the Manager of Collections to ensure that all approved and disbursed loans are repaid on schedule, minimizing loss and non‑performing loans for the bank. The role focuses on managing loans that are 1‑30 days past due, supporting branch teams, and maintaining compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and manage the Portfolio at Risk (PAR) to stay within institutional targets.
• Process insurance claims promptly and maintain high turnaround times.
• Ensure adherence to credit policies and loan administration procedures related to collections.
• Collect repayments for all disbursed loans, ensuring payments are received on or before due dates.
• Maintain accurate records of communications, payments, and collection activities.
• Support internal client relationships by facilitating effective collaboration between departments.
• Extract and input data into spreadsheets and standard formats for reporting.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established processes.
• Good organizational skills with the capacity to manage own workload and prioritize tasks.
• Understanding of banking or micro‑finance operations is advantageous.
• Ability to work under pressure to meet collection targets and compliance standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Basic database management and data entry skills.
