Commercial Associate – Category Manager

About the role

The Commercial Associate (Category Manager) will own the commercial performance of assigned product categories for MAF Retail. You will drive sales growth, optimise margins and shape the assortment to meet customer needs while supporting store profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategy to achieve sales, margin and market‑share targets.
• Lead supplier negotiations covering pricing, rebates, promotional funding and contract terms.
• Manage the category P&L, balancing revenue growth with profitability.
• Define and optimise SKU mix based on customer insights, sales data and competitive analysis.
• Design pricing architecture and promotional plans to maximise traffic, basket size and gross margin.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain to ensure strong inventory management, minimise stock‑outs and improve turnover.
• Monitor competitor activity and market trends to identify innovation opportunities.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in retail buying, category management or commercial roles.
• Experience in modern trade retail preferred.
• Strong supplier negotiation experience.
• Exposure to FMCG environment is a plus.
• Strong analytical capability and stakeholder management skills.
