Communication Officer

About the role

The Communications Officer will design and execute the communications strategy for Farm Africa’s Kenya office, supporting both the global team and local programmes. The role involves raising the organisation’s profile, building partnerships and strengthening internal communication capacity.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a communications and media action plan to showcase Farm Africa’s impact in Kenya.
• Produce marketing materials, press releases, multimedia content and manage the external contacts database.
• Coordinate with the global communications team and maintain the Kenya sections of the website and social media channels.
• Support donor reporting, fundraising case studies and internal crisis communications.
• Train staff in presentation, photography, writing and strategic messaging.

Required profile

• Degree in communications, journalism, public relations, graphic design or related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in communications, media or marketing, preferably in an NGO or agriculture‑related environment.
• Fluent in English and Kiswahili with strong written and oral skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with design and editing tools such as InDesign, Photoshop and PowerPoint.
• Experience in photography, videography and video editing.
• Competence in digital communications, social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Facebook) and web content management.
