Communications Officer – Nairobi

About the role

The Communications Officer will lead the development and implementation of Farm Africa’s communications strategy for the Kenya country office. Reporting to the Country Programme Manager, the role supports programme teams, builds media and private‑sector partnerships, and strengthens the capacity of staff to communicate impact effectively.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a communications and marketing action plan, including stakeholder mapping, media strategy and production of promotional materials.
• Maintain the external contacts database, oversee translation into Kiswahili, and ensure consistent branding across all communications.
• Coordinate with the global communications team to manage website content, social‑media channels and donor reporting.
• Collect and curate high‑resolution images and case‑study stories to support fundraising and external relations activities.
• Deliver training and capacity‑building sessions for staff on presentation skills, photography, and strategic messaging.

Required profile

• Degree in communications, journalism, public relations, graphic design or a related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in communications, media or marketing, preferably within an NGO or agriculture‑focused organization.
• Fluent in English and Kiswahili.

Required skills

• Proficiency with design and editing tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign and Microsoft PowerPoint.
• Experience in photography, videography and video editing.
• Competence in managing social‑media platforms (Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) and website content.
• Desktop publishing and graphic‑design capabilities.
