Communications & Public Relations Manager

About the role

inABLE is looking for a Communications & Public Relations Manager based in Nairobi (Westlands). The role leads a forward-looking communications and engagement strategy aligned with the organisation's growth, fundraising, advocacy and partnership priorities, and advises senior leadership on messaging, brand visibility and reputation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead a communications and engagement strategy, shape the thought leadership agenda and advise leadership on messaging, trends and reputational risks
• Lead message architecture, editorial planning and quality assurance across institutional communications, donor materials, speeches, policy briefs and annual reports
• Drive media, PR and brand visibility strategies, build relationships with journalists, donors, government and sector stakeholders, and run brand campaigns
• Lead communications for flagship convenings, campaigns and conferences, and oversee reputation and crisis communications
• Turn program results, research and lived-experience stories into content for donors, policymakers and the public, working with program, MEL and partnerships teams
• Manage digital communications: website, social media, newsletters and digital platforms, using analytics to refine content and build online communities

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, International Relations, Development Communication, Marketing or a related field; a Master's is preferred
• At least 8-10 years of progressive experience in strategic communications, PR, corporate affairs, development communication or brand leadership, preferably in international development, nonprofit, social impact or policy environments
• Experience managing communications teams, consultants, vendors, campaigns, events and budgets
• Strong understanding of donor-funded programming, advocacy, disability inclusion or digital inclusion
