Community Oral Health Officer (COHO) – Kajiado

About the role

The Community Oral Health Officer (COHO) will provide preventive, promotive and basic curative oral health services to communities, especially in rural settings. This full‑time position is based in Kajiado and works within Equity Afia’s network of franchised outpatient centres.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver preventive and basic curative oral health services in community and rural environments.
• Conduct oral health examinations, extractions, prophylaxis and fluoride applications.
• Maintain accurate documentation, record keeping and follow care plans.
• Provide patient care, medication and prescription administration, and ensure infection control.
• Participate in community outreach, school dental health programs and mobile clinic activities.
• Use Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) for data entry and reporting.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Community Oral Health from a recognised institution.
• Valid licence from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
• Minimum two years post‑internship experience.
• Certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Experience in community outreach, school dental programs or mobile clinics (advantageous).
• Strong clinical knowledge of dental hygiene, oral health and infection prevention.
• Proficiency with computer systems, especially HMIS.
