Cook - Full Time

About the role

Brites Management Services is hiring a full-time Cook for its hospitality business, based in Nairobi West. The cook prepares and cooks food according to approved recipes and menus, supports the kitchen team during busy service and helps with events such as conferences and banquets.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food according to approved recipes, menus and required standards, ensuring meals are properly cooked, presented and served on time.
• Maintain consistent taste, quality, portion sizes and presentation.
• Assist with preparation for regular service, conferences, banquets and other functions.
• Keep the kitchen and food preparation areas clean and handle, store and prepare food safely, following food safety procedures.
• Clean and maintain workstations, utensils and equipment, and minimise contamination, spoilage and wastage.
• Follow approved portion sizes and recipes to support food-cost control, and report shortages, spoilage or quality issues to the supervisor.
• Work closely with the Chef and other kitchen staff, stay efficient during busy periods and follow the Chef's instructions.

Required profile

• Certificate or diploma in Food Production, Culinary Arts or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in a hotel, restaurant or similar professional kitchen.
• Practical experience in food preparation, cooking, portion control and kitchen hygiene.
• Ability to maintain food quality and consistency during busy service.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of food safety and kitchen sanitation.
• Good cooking and food preparation skills, and ability to follow recipes accurately.
• Good time management and organisational skills.
