Country Director

About the role

StrongMinds is launching its first program in Kenya and needs a visionary leader to build the country operation from the ground up. As Country Director, you will establish the legal entity, design core systems, and assemble a high‑performing founding team while integrating the proven IPT‑G mental‑health model into Kenya’s health system.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the full start‑up of the Kenya program, including legal registration, financial set‑up, and recruitment of the initial team.
• Develop and execute a country‑wide strategy and scale plan aligned with StrongMinds’ global vision.
• Translate existing county‑level partnerships into a fully operational, scalable service delivery model.
• Set priorities, budgets, and targets, fostering a data‑driven decision‑making culture.
• Represent StrongMinds to government, civil society, and the broader mental‑health ecosystem.
• Drive advocacy efforts to embed mental‑health priorities in national policy and public funding.
• Ensure high‑quality delivery of the Interpersonal Group Therapy (IPT‑G) model across Kenya.

Required profile

• Proven experience building and leading new country programs or similar large‑scale initiatives.
• Strong track record of partnership development with government and NGOs.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate autonomously and navigate ambiguity.
• Excellent judgment, strategic thinking, and ability to deliver measurable results.
