County Attorney

About the role

The County Government of Nakuru, through its Public Service Board, is advertising one vacancy for County Attorney under advert No. 15/2026. The post is a six-year contract, paid according to SRC guidelines, and the holder acts as the principal legal adviser to the County Government.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as principal legal adviser to the County Government
• Attend County Executive Committee meetings as an ex officio member
• Represent the County Executive in court and legal proceedings, other than criminal proceedings, on instruction of the County Government
• Advise departments in the County Executive on legislative and other legal matters
• Negotiate, draft, vet and interpret documents and agreements for the County Executive and its agencies
• Revise County Laws
• Liaise with the Attorney General's office when needed
• Perform any other function necessary for the effective discharge of the duties of the County Attorney

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university
• Post-graduate Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law
• Member of the Law Society of Kenya in good standing, with a valid practicing license
• At least 10 years of work experience, including at least 5 years as Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
• Knowledge of relevant laws and professional standards, and compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya
