County Attorney (Six-Year Contract)

About the role

The Nakuru County Public Service Board is re-advertising one vacancy for the position of County Attorney under advert no. 15/2026. The County Attorney acts as the principal legal adviser to the County Government and serves as an ex officio member of the County Executive Committee. The appointment is on a six-year contract.

Key responsibilities

• Act as principal legal adviser to the County Government
• Attend meetings of the County Executive Committee as an ex officio member
• Represent the County Executive in court or legal proceedings other than criminal ones, on instruction of the County Government
• Advise departments in the County Executive on legislative and other legal matters
• Negotiate, draft, vet and interpret documents and agreements for the County Executive and its agencies
• Contribute to the revision of County Laws
• Liaise with the Office of the Attorney General when needed
• Perform any other function necessary for the effective discharge of the duties of the County Attorney

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university
• Post-graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law
• Member of the Law Society of Kenya in good standing, with a valid practicing license
• At least ten years of work experience, including at least five years as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
• Knowledge of relevant laws and professional standards
• Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya
