Crane Operator / Rigger

About the role

Amentum is seeking a qualified Crane Operator / Rigger to support a U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves moving materials safely with a mobile crane, performing rigging inspections, and configuring lifting equipment according to load specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Move materials and mobile crane to designated locations in a safe manner.
• Inspect, maintain, select, and configure cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, shackles and sheaves based on load weight and size.
• Conduct site surveys, task analysis and lift calculations.
• Interact closely with the customer to coordinate material movements.
• Perform operator‑level maintenance on crane and rigging components.
• Adhere to safety, quality and procedural compliance standards.
• Execute other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Minimum one (1) year of experience as a crane rigger.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work at heights and lift up to 75 lb.
• Willingness to work in remote, potentially uncomfortable conditions with long hours and adverse weather.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally on short notice.

Required skills

• Selection and configuration of rigging equipment (cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, shackles, sheaves).
• Lift calculations and load analysis.
• Site survey and task analysis.
• Operator‑level crane and rigging maintenance.
• Proficient reading and comprehension of English.
