Credit Control Officer

About the role

CIC Insurance Group, an insurance and financial services organisation operating in Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan and Malawi, is hiring a Credit Control Officer. Reporting to the Finance & Administration Manager, the role holder ensures that the debit and credit lines of the organisation stay within acceptable thresholds.

Key responsibilities

• Draft the credit policy and implement it
• Guide the Business Development team on allowable credit limits
• Ensure debts are paid in line with company policies and approve credit payments accordingly
• Negotiate debt repayment plans with clients and advise on payment modes
• Monitor debt ratios (reconciliations) and provide periodic and reconciliation debt statements
• Recommend recoverable debt and its likely impact on business operations
• Advise on bad debt recovery strategies

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in finance and accounting or a related field
• Partial qualification in ACCA or CPA or another relevant professional field
• At least three years of experience in finance
• Experience in credit control is an added advantage
• Basic knowledge of AKI and IRA regulations

Required skills

• Computer literacy in MS Office and other office applications
• Communication, presentation, problem-solving, interpersonal, leadership and negotiation skills
• Analytical skills and understanding of the working environment and competitors
• Technical competence in insurance
