Cybersecurity Engineer

About the role

A multinational technology and infrastructure company is looking for a Cybersecurity Engineer to join its global IT software delivery center in Nairobi, Kenya. The role works alongside Software Engineers, Quality Engineers, User Interaction Design Engineers, Infrastructure/Platform teams and Product Owners to deliver security solutions in cloud environments. The position is full time.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in technical and business discussions to shape security architecture, analyse current and future security posture and build implementation roadmaps
• Gather and analyse security requirements at project level and contribute to infrastructure governance and security standardisation
• Design and deploy secure infrastructure that meets standardisation, consolidation, TCO, security and regulatory compliance needs
• Act as technical authority for administration and incident management of network security, virtualization, patching, monitoring and backup systems
• Operate and maintain enterprise security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems and vulnerability management platforms
• Run vulnerability assessments and compliance scans, manage monitoring tools, log correlation and incident response procedures, and ensure compliance with ISO9001 and ISO27001
• Mentor engineering teams on secure implementation practices and help integrate security into the software development lifecycle

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity or equivalent
• Minimum 5-10 years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity and system administration
• Fluency in spoken and written English
• Willingness to travel internationally for on-site missions (up to 50% of the time or more)
• Strong understanding of ITIL and change management, and a proven track record of problem analysis and resolution
