Data Analyst

About the role

Watu Credit Ltd is seeking a Data Analyst to join the team in Nairobi, reporting to the Data Analytics Manager. The role supports Watu Africa’s mission to empower entrepreneurs by providing data‑driven insights for asset financing services.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain reports and dashboards on company KPIs.
• Answer business questions using data analysis and statistics.
• Support the management team with a wide range of data‑handling requests.
• Conduct periodic audits on data quality in line with company policies.
• Assist in building and maintaining back‑end data ingestion and transformation processes.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Data Analytics or a related field.
• 2+ years of data analysis experience.
• Ability to work independently, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.
• Self‑starter, target‑oriented, and a team player.

Required skills

• Advanced SQL.
• Strong Excel and Google Sheets proficiency.
• Understanding of relational database theory.
• Knowledge of data preparation and acquisition.
• Familiarity with R and Python.
• Experience with Google Cloud solutions, especially Google Data Studio and BigQuery.
• Exposure to non‑relational databases or big‑data technologies.
• Version control with Git and data transformation with dbt.
