Data Analyst – Markets Group

About the role

ASIC’s Markets Group is seeking an experienced Data Analyst to join the Market Intelligence team. You will work with large, complex datasets to generate insights that support regulatory decisions and help maintain the integrity of Australia’s financial markets.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical and analytical support for markets data, systems and technology initiatives.
• Acquire, ingest, model and maintain large datasets from multiple sources to enhance regulatory understanding.
• Identify innovative ways to apply data and AI to ASIC’s strategic priorities.
• Conduct quantitative market analysis, thematic reviews and develop tools to monitor market‑integrity metrics.
• Prepare reports, briefings, presentations and visualisations that clearly communicate complex information.
• Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and respond to data requests promptly.
• Support data‑analytics projects, offering advice on data pipelines, system architecture, data quality, governance and modelling.

Required profile

• Proven experience working with large, complex datasets in a regulatory or financial‑services environment.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across diverse stakeholder groups.
• Curiosity and a proactive approach to identifying new data‑driven solutions.
