Deputy Director of Special Programs & Social Welfare

About the role

The Deputy Director of Special Programs & Social Welfare will support the Director Special Programs in managing highly complex development activities across Meru County. The role involves coordinating development projects, disaster response, peace and security initiatives, and conflict‑resolution efforts.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate county‑wide development activities and ensure effective implementation.
• Mobilise resources and partnerships to fund and sustain development programmes.
• Oversee disaster management and emergency response operations.
• Promote and coordinate peace, security, and community safety initiatives.
• Lead conflict‑resolution and peace‑building activities across diverse socio‑economic contexts.

Required profile

• Minimum five (5) years of experience in a comparable and relevant position.
• University degree in Political Sciences, International Relations, Economics, Business Information Technology or a related discipline recognized in Kenya.
• Good knowledge of the development sector and international affairs.
• Strong project‑management, research and analytical abilities.
• Excellent teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills (written, oral and presentation).
• Self‑developer with willingness to learn and acquire new competencies.
