Director of Learning & Development – Hospitality & Conservation

About the role

The Director of Learning & Development will shape the learning, leadership and service‑excellence agenda for JCG’s hospitality and conservation portfolio. Based in Nairobi with regular travel across Kenya and Tanzania, you will partner with operational leaders and the People & Culture team to build high‑performing cultures and unforgettable guest experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive Learning, Leadership Development and Service Excellence strategy for the portfolio.
• Design and embed brand, service and leadership promises, as well as culture frameworks that drive consistent guest experiences.
• Facilitate high‑impact learning programmes, workshops, onboarding and leadership development interventions.
• Partner with operational leaders to deliver Train‑the‑Trainer programmes and strengthen departmental capability.
• Create structured learning pathways, career frameworks and internal academies to support talent development and succession planning.
• Lead onboarding, employee experience and values integration across all operations.
• Collaborate on organisational development, change management and capability‑building initiatives.
• Establish learning governance, measurement and reporting to ensure measurable business impact.

Required profile

• Proven senior experience in Learning & Development, preferably within hospitality or conservation environments.
• Strong strategic thinking combined with hands‑on facilitation and culture‑transformation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to design and embed leadership and service excellence programmes.
• Excellent stakeholder management and partnership skills with operational leaders.
• Willingness to travel regularly across Kenya and Tanzania.
