Driver for Western Base Operations

About the role

InformAction is seeking an experienced driver to provide safe and reliable transportation for staff, partners and participants across the western region of Kenya. The role involves both local and out‑of‑town travel, often to remote and difficult‑to‑access locations.

Key responsibilities

• Transport staff, consultants and authorized passengers to meetings, workshops, trainings and field activities, ensuring punctuality and safety.
• Plan routes considering traffic, road conditions, weather, security and travel time, and communicate any delays promptly.
• Conduct pre‑ and post‑journey vehicle checks, report faults, and ensure regular servicing and documentation.
• Provide logistical support during events, including loading/unloading equipment, preparing venues and assisting with participant coordination.
• Maintain accurate vehicle logs, fuel records and mileage reports, and comply with all organisational policies on safety, security and resource use.

Required profile

• Valid Kenyan driving licence appropriate for the assigned vehicle.
• Minimum three years of professional driving experience, preferably within an NGO or development context.
• Experience driving in rural and challenging road conditions, with good knowledge of Kenya’s road network.
• Basic computer literacy and understanding of logistics and administrative support.
• Certificate of Good Conduct may be required.

Required skills

• Vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Computer literacy (basic office applications).
• Knowledge of occupational health, safety and security practices for field travel.
