Early Childhood Development Teacher (ECDE)

About the role

The Aga Khan Nursery School in Kisumu is seeking an enthusiastic Early Childhood Development (ECDE) Teacher to join its team. You will create a nurturing, stimulating environment for children aged 2.5 to 6 years, supporting their cognitive, social, and emotional growth within the Competency Based Curriculum.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver age‑appropriate lesson plans that promote exploration, creativity, and independence.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive classroom that encourages play‑based learning, group discussions, and individualized instruction.
• Build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues to ensure open communication.
• Monitor and assess each child’s progress, keep accurate records, and provide regular feedback to parents.
• Promote good behaviour through positive reinforcement and age‑appropriate classroom rules.
• Support the development of essential skills such as language, problem‑solving, motor abilities, and social interaction.
• Organise field trips, events, and special activities that enhance hands‑on learning.
• Stay current with early childhood education trends through professional development.

Required profile

• Diploma in Early Childhood Development (ECD) from a recognised institution.
• Minimum two years of experience teaching young children in a school setting.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom‑management abilities.
• Caring, patient, flexible attitude and familiarity with the new Competency Based Curriculum.
