Energy Access & Developer Support Fellow

About the role

The Fellow will support the Global Energy Alliance’s mission to accelerate private‑sector energy‑access delivery across sub‑Saharan Africa. Working closely with the programme Director, the role combines analytical work with hands‑on execution and stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the intake, screening and progression of energy‑access opportunities, ensuring alignment with strategic criteria.
• Conduct market, company and sector research, producing briefs, company profiles and concept notes for decision‑making.
• Coordinate engagement with developers, investors, technical assistance providers and other ecosystem partners, organising convenings and joint workstreams.
• Track approved engagements through implementation, monitoring milestones, budgets and reporting requirements.
• Maintain program documentation, knowledge repositories and contribute to learning products such as case studies and playbooks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Business, Finance, International Development or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
• 2‑5 years of experience in energy access, consulting, finance, development finance or private‑sector development.
• Familiarity with distributed renewable energy models, mini‑grids, standalone solar and grid‑adjacent solutions.
• Experience working with energy‑access companies, donor‑funded programmes or climate‑tech ecosystems in Africa.
