Engineering Trainee

About the role

The Engineering Trainee will join Kempinski Hotels in Nairobi to gain hands‑on experience across mechanical, electrical and MEP operations. Working under the Training Manager and departmental trainers, the trainee will learn to support maintenance, safety and quality standards in a multinational hotel environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist mechanical technicians, ensure adherence to working hours and supervise daily preventive maintenance of machines, laundry and kitchen equipment.
• Perform routine checks, testing and servicing of HVAC, electrical systems, boilers and swimming‑pool water treatment, and record utility meter readings.
• Support the preparation of FF&E requisitions, fuel receipt logs and daily utility consumption reports.
• Ensure compliance with HACCP, COSHH, brand standards and Kempinski policies, including safe isolation of hazardous equipment.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in an engineering discipline from a recognized institution (completed coursework acceptable).
• Kenyan citizenship, with less than one year since graduation (2025/2026).
• Strong communication skills, professional grooming and a positive learning attitude.

Required skills

• Knowledge of HVAC, electrical and MEP installations.
• Experience with preventive maintenance and minor electrical installations.
• Understanding of HACCP, COSHH and boiler water treatment procedures.
