Environmental Health Safety Specialist

About the role

The Environmental Health Safety (EHS) Specialist will support the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of EHS standards within our factory in Miwani, Kisumu County. You will conduct routine inspections, assess risks, drive corrective actions and foster a strong safety culture across all departments.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections of workplaces, production areas, warehouses, machinery and the factory to identify hazards, unsafe acts and non‑compliance.
• Document findings, prepare reports for management and ensure timely closure of corrective actions.
• Identify hazards, conduct risk assessments and recommend control measures using the hierarchy of controls.
• Support Job Safety Analyses (JSA/JHA) and develop safe work procedures.
• Lead toolbox talks, safety briefings and awareness campaigns for employees and contractors.
• Assist in incident, accident and near‑miss investigations, collect evidence, interview witnesses and support root‑cause analysis.
• Help develop corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and monitor their implementation.
• Conduct EHS induction and refresher training on PPE, fire safety, manual handling, machine safety, chemical safety, working at height and other topics.
• Maintain accurate EHS records, inspection checklists, incident reports, risk assessments, training logs and corrective‑action registers.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly EHS performance reports and highlight areas requiring management attention.
• Monitor proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and report non‑compliance.
