Environmentalist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Environmentalist to support our construction projects in Kenya, focusing on wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) operations and compliance with environmental regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and monitor WWTP performance and sludge disposal processes.
• Ensure compliance with Kenyan environmental law and international ESHS guidelines.
• Develop and implement contractor ESHS performance monitoring and supervision schemes.
• Conduct regular site inspections and report on environmental performance.
• Collaborate with project teams to integrate environmental best practices.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years total professional experience.
• At least 2 years of specific experience in wastewater treatment plant operations.
• Proven experience handling sludge disposal.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan environmental legislation.
• Familiarity with World Bank/IFC EHS guidelines and sector‑specific water and sanitation EHS standards.
