EV Battery End‑of‑Life Project Support Officer

About the role

The Sustainable Mobility Unit of the United Nations Environment Programme is seeking a dedicated professional to support its EV Battery End‑of‑Life programme. Working under the Programme Management Officer, the incumbent will contribute to the design, coordination and delivery of key policy and project outputs across multiple regions.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and submit a work plan and quarterly progress reports for the Used EVs and Battery End‑of‑Life programme.
  • Assist in planning, agenda setting and logistics for the virtual launch and first in‑person event of the Global Partnership on EV Battery Circularity.
  • Prepare, review and publish reports on used EV import standards, a regulatory toolbox, and an EV battery chemical impact assessment.
  • Organise workshops and sub‑regional meetings on battery end‑of‑life, securing speakers and finalising agendas.
  • Draft implementation plans, tender outlines and selection criteria for competitive grant processes in Africa, Asia‑Pacific, EEWACA and Latin America/Caribbean.
  • Review and improve project proposals for GEF‑9 e‑mobility projects in two countries.
  • Finalize battery end‑of‑life policy development projects in Cameroon, Morocco and Ethiopia.
  • Represent the unit in at least one webinar and review policy and project outputs from related e‑mobility initiatives.

Required profile

  • Relevant university degree in environmental studies, sustainable mobility, international development or a related field.
  • Experience in project coordination, policy analysis or programme management within an international or multilateral context.
  • Strong written communication skills for report preparation and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with partners across different regions and time zones.
