Executive Director

About the role

The Executive Director will provide overall leadership, strategic vision and operational accountability for NEST360 Alliance, an international partnership dedicated to ending preventable newborn deaths in African hospitals. Based in Nairobi, the role oversees a newly established hub that coordinates research, technology deployment, training and quality‑improvement initiatives across multiple African countries.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a diverse, multidisciplinary team and ensure high‑performance delivery of NEST360 programmes.
• Develop and execute the alliance’s strategic plan, aligning activities with the mission to reduce neonatal mortality.
• Secure and steward multi‑year, diversified funding through donor engagement, grant writing and partnership development.
• Manage relationships with governments, academic institutions, hospitals and global partners to embed newborn care solutions into national health systems.
• Oversee governance, financial stewardship and board operations, ensuring transparency and compliance.
• Drive expansion into new countries while transitioning out of sites that have achieved sustained impact.

Required profile

• Extensive senior leadership experience in global health, public‑health NGOs or related nonprofit sectors.
• Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor management and building strategic partnerships.
• Proven ability to manage complex, multi‑stakeholder programmes in African contexts.
• Deep understanding of neonatal health challenges and health‑system strengthening.
• Strong governance and financial management capabilities.
