Fashion Designer Assistant

About the role

Brites Management Services is hiring a full-time Fashion Designer Assistant in Kilimani within the fashion design and garment manufacturing industry. The assistant supports the lead designer and the production team through concept development, material selection, quality checks and client coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing fashion concepts, mood boards and seasonal collections, and prepare sketches, technical drawings and garment specifications.
• Help create customized designs based on client requirements and stay up to date with trends, fabrics, colours and styling techniques.
• Source fabrics, trims and accessories, evaluate their quality and coordinate with suppliers for timely availability.
• Work with tailors and production staff, interpret design sketches and monitor production progress.
• Inspect garments at each stage, check measurements, stitching and finishing, and coordinate corrections.
• Assist clients during consultations and fittings, record measurements, organize design files and support inventory management.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, Textile Design or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in a fashion design house, garment production company or tailoring workshop.
• Experience assisting in garment design and production processes.

Required skills

• Familiarity with garment construction, pattern interpretation and quality assurance.
• Strong creativity and excellent sketching and design visualization skills.
• Good understanding of fabrics, garment construction and finishing techniques.
