Field Officer – Avocado, Mango & Passion Fruit (Meru)

About the role

The company, a leading fresh‑produce exporter, is seeking motivated Field Officers to develop and manage avocado, mango and passion‑fruit suppliers in Meru. The role involves coordinating harvesting operations, promoting Good Agricultural Practices and ensuring traceability from farm to packhouse.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, register and develop farmers, aggregators and farmer groups in the assigned region.
• Assess fruit maturity, estimate volumes and submit production forecasts.
• Coordinate harvesting activities to meet production targets and ensure only export‑quality fruit is collected.
• Promote compliance with quality, food safety, traceability and sustainability standards such as GlobalG.A.P., Rainforest Alliance and Organic.
• Facilitate farmer training on GAP, pest and disease management, harvesting techniques and agro‑chemical stewardship.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agribusiness or a related field.
• Minimum two years of experience in fresh‑produce sourcing, agricultural extension or field operations, preferably with avocado, mango or passion fruit.
• Experience with certification programmes (GlobalG.A.P., Rainforest Alliance, Organic, GRASP, SMETA) is an advantage.
• Strong communication, farmer‑engagement and problem‑solving abilities with high integrity.
