Finance Associate

About the role

The Finance Associate will support the UNOPS Africa Region in delivering transparent and reliable financial reporting. Based in Nairobi, the role contributes to corporate financial statements, audit processes, and continuous improvement of financial operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing interim and year‑end corporate financial statements, schedules and notes.
• Support data consolidation, working files and tables for financial reporting.
• Provide audit assistance, maintain logs of internal and external audit recommendations and analyse related data.
• Coordinate quarterly and year‑end financial closure processes.
• Review reconciliation submissions and account balances for compliance with UNOPS Financial Rules and applicable directives.
• Perform General Ledger analysis, ensuring completeness and accuracy of entries.
• Communicate with internal stakeholders to verify, correct, or request additional information.
• Monitor transactions and account balances periodically to ensure proper recording and reporting.

Required profile

• Experience in finance or accounting functions, preferably within an international organization.
• Familiarity with UNOPS financial rules and audit procedures.
• Strong analytical abilities to review reconciliations and ledger data.
• Effective communication skills for interaction with internal stakeholders.
