Finance & Compliance Officer - Nyeri

About the role

Green Earth is seeking a meticulous Finance & Compliance Officer to manage end‑to‑end financial accuracy for its operations in Nyeri and the wider region. You will ensure that every receipt, reconciliation and payment aligns with the organization’s financial policies and the stringent requirements of carbon‑credit certification.

Key responsibilities

• Record and safeguard all incoming funds on the day they are received.
• Review and approve payment requests against approved budgets, verifying invoices and supporting documents.
• Oversee income, receipts, disbursements, payments and financial reporting functions to maintain traceable transactions.
• Maintain audit‑ready financial records with zero missing invoices or unreconciled items.
• Compile and submit monthly financial reports to the Country Director and Holding Finance.
• Identify and resolve documentation gaps or discrepancies before month‑end close.
• Escalate payments exceeding thresholds or any irregularities promptly.
• Respond to queries from division heads, auditors and Holding Finance.

Required profile

• Degree or professional qualification in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• Solid experience in financial management, budgeting or accounting, preferably within a field‑based or nonprofit organization in Kenya or East Africa.
• Strong attention to detail and sound judgment for approving or holding payments.
• Excellent communication skills to explain financial matters to non‑finance colleagues.
• Integrity and discretion handling sensitive financial data.
• Familiarity with Kenyan financial regulations, tax requirements and banking practices.
