Finance Intern

About the role

Stratostaff East Africa is hiring a full-time Finance Intern in Nairobi. The intern supports the general billing and collections (GBS) teams with collection follow-ups, general ledger and accounts payable work, and customer service on general receivables matters, and acts as a reliever to ensure business continuity when team members are unavailable.

Key responsibilities

• Collection tasks: assist GBS teams with unreconciled items (second-level escalations), coordinate receipt identification with GBSI, customers and Customer Care, contact banks about unidentified, sanctioned or unapplied payments, follow up daily with cash customers and two cashiers, and coordinate dispute resolution with the Customer Care Team
• General ledger and accounts payable: prepare and distribute payment remittances to vendors, reconcile vendor statements with company records, follow up on account creation status, and help resolve supplier invoice RFIs raised by the shared services team
• Customer service and stakeholder engagement: handle walk-in customers, emails and phone calls on general AR matters, and respond to queries from internal stakeholders such as Service Delivery, Legal, Commercial, CMD and Customer Service, including credit customer queries handled by GBSI
• Miscellaneous duties as assigned, and acting as a reliever when team members are unavailable

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field
• Customer service oriented, with strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
• High attention to detail, strong integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality
• Able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, professional environment

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables)
