Finance Internship

About the role

The Finance Internship supports the Accounts Payable team at British American Tobacco Kenya, providing hands‑on experience with invoice processing, payment preparation, and tax checks. The role is supervised, uses approved templates, and escalates exceptions as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with receiving, logging, tracking and coding supplier invoices.
• Prepare payment instructions, support urgent payment requests and maintain payment schedules.
• Coordinate with GBS on invoice posting status and follow up approvals.
• Prepare withholding tax schedules and VAT checks using approved templates.
• Respond to routine supplier queries and share proof of payments.
• Maintain accurate records, trackers and follow AP procedures, escalating any control issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or ongoing studies in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or a related field.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and interest in corporate finance.
• Ability to work under supervision, meet timelines and follow established procedures.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
• Familiarity with SAP or other enterprise systems (advantageous).
