Finance Manager

About the role

The Finance Manager will build and maintain the financial backbone of Sankoré International School, a new, high‑performing educational institution in Nairobi. This is a founding‑stage, execution‑focused role responsible for budgeting, bookkeeping, tuition collection and ensuring financial integrity from day one.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage the annual budgeting cycle, working with the School Director and department leads.
• Prepare and present the annual budget to the Director and Board, defending assumptions and variances.
• Monitor actual expenditure against the approved budget and flag variances early.
• Maintain day‑to‑day bookkeeping for all school transactions and track expenditure against the budget.
• Manage the school’s bank account, perform reconciliations and monitor cash flow.
• Partner with the SankoréOS platform to ensure seamless financial data flow across systems.
• Oversee tuition collection, financial aid processing and procurement reconciliation.
• Support payroll and HR administration in collaboration with the Operations Manager.

Required profile

• Junior‑level finance experience with a focus on execution.
• Ability to work closely with the School Director, Operations Manager and central finance office.
• Commitment to financial integrity and multi‑person review processes.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce clean, on‑time financial reports.
