Finance Manager / Senior Accountant (Consultancy Role)

About the role

A consultancy firm is looking for a Finance Manager / Senior Accountant to stabilize its finance department during a transitional period. This is a temporary, time-sensitive consultancy position requiring a hands-on professional who can immediately take charge of financial management, ensure compliance and lead on matters related to a company under receivership. Immediate start is required.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all financial operations, ensuring accuracy and accountability.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, and prepare and approve payments in line with policies and internal controls.
• Clear accounting backlogs, streamline records and improve reporting accuracy.
• Coordinate with auditors and ensure proper documentation and audit readiness.
• Maintain tax compliance (PAYE, VAT, withholding, NHIF, NSSF, etc.) and manage collections, bank reconciliations and cash flow.
• Advise management on risk, liquidity and cost optimization during restructuring, and handle receivership matters with strict confidentiality.
• Develop and implement financial control systems and reporting procedures.

Required profile

• Fully qualified CPA (K); registration with ICPAK preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience, including some in an audit or consultancy firm.
• Strong background in audit, financial reporting and compliance; experience with restructured or receivership organizations is an advantage.
• Integrity, discretion and the ability to advise senior leadership under pressure.

• Accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage or Xero.
• Advanced Excel.
