Finance Officer (NGO)

About the role

Kalobeyei Initiative for Better Life (KI4BLI) is recruiting a full-time Finance Officer in Nairobi to manage its financial operations. The post-holder ensures accurate record-keeping, compliance with organizational and donor policies, and supports financial planning and reporting. The role covers budget oversight, payment processing, expense tracking, financial reporting and risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll, and ensure timely payments to suppliers, staff and beneficiaries while maintaining cash flow.
• Support the preparation of annual budgets with program and administrative teams, monitor budget use and assist in financial forecasting.
• Maintain accurate financial records, reconcile bank statements and cash books, and file transactions for audit purposes.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports for internal and external stakeholders, including donor-specific reports, and give financial insights to senior management.
• Ensure compliance with financial policies and donor requirements, monitor financial risks such as fraud and mismanagement, and support audits.
• Train staff on budget management and compliance, help develop financial policies and improve financial systems and tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field.
• Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA or equivalent is an added advantage.
• At least 3 years of experience in financial management, preferably in the NGO sector.
• Strong understanding of financial regulations, donor requirements and compliance standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency in financial management software and tools.
• Analytical thinking, attention to detail, strong communication and ability to work under pressure.
